I know that his article is old now, but I've only just found it so I thought it was worth a blog. According to this, the Royal Wedding tomorrow is costing the British economy £6 billion in lost productivity as businesses are only open for three days between April 22nd and May 2nd (with many staff choosing to take these three days as annual leave).
Though many people argue that the Wedding is likely to make money from extra tourist revenues and sales of memorabilia, in reality, economists have predicted that this only generates £1 billion.
However, many seem to ignore the "feel good factor" that a Royal Wedding generates- who can put a price on a cheerful nation? Especially if this causes people to loosen their purse strings for a little while...
